’If this true, then we welcome the development’
Washington hopes for Vasily Aleksanyan to have access to civil medicine.
The United States were positive to discussions that former vice-president of Yukos, Vasily Aleksanyan, who is terminally ill with a number of diseases, may be transferred to a specialist health establishment for treatment.
Tom Casey, a representative for the Department of State, told journalists: ‘We are urging the Russian government to provide Aleksanyan with the civil medical care that he needs. We have seen reports on the Russian government’s intention to provide him with medical care at a Moscow clinic. If this is true, then we welcome the development.
As earlier reported to Interfax, V. Aleksanyan is to be transferred to a specialist clinic. An agreement with the Department of Health in Moscow is currently being discussed.
