About half of Russians polled said they do not believe Khodorkovsky's spirit has been broken, and over two-thirds believe the break-up of Yukos was done in the personal interest of those now controlling Yukos assets.

A recent poll in Russia found that almost one in five Russians believe Khodorkovsky could be eliminated by the authorities while in prison, while 33.4 percent believe he will remain an important voice in the Russia's political life.

In a recent public opinion poll, 28 percent of residents in the Universitetsky district intended to vote for Mikhail Khodorkovsky in the State Duma by-elections.
