Prosecutor General's Office Makes a Statement Saying There Were No Health Violations Against Khodorkovsky or Lebedev
The independent non-governmental organization “Sovest” [Conscience] received a letter from Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office providing the results of the examination of SIZO No.1 Matrosskaya Tishina regarding violations of the human rights of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev.
Russia's Prosecutor General’s Office said that violation of the social well-being as well as medical care with regard to Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev was not found in the SIZO; there also were no medical exclusions against placing Platon Lebedev in the punishment cell for seven days. Meanwhile, it is a known fact that Platon Lebedev suffers from severe chronic diseases, including hepatitis.
The examination was initiated in response to the request made by State Duma Deputies V. Pokhmelkin, V. Gartung and A. Korzhakov, and coordinated by Sovest group members.
