The investigators (and those who are above the investigators) decided to equate Yukos with the “Yukos affair”. In their anxious minds, all economic activity had again become a crime. Anybody who knows anything at all shrugs and agrees that is lunacy, but there is no certainty that the sequel to this mind-boggling nonsense will be shot down in the new court case.

Despite all the documentation produced by its official gravediggers, Yukos not only existed but brought to its sector of the economy international standards of management and accountability. In that sense its project continues. Through its social projects YUKOS affected the lives of hundreds, indeed thousands of people. In that sense its project will never end.

Come what may in the future, the “Yukos affair” will be passed down to history as a matter of dossiers; while the Yukos project will be remembered thanks to the people who had faith, had dreams, and who worked to realise them.
