Famous businessman Roman Abramovich has paid $500,000 for the one-off numberplate of the late Pope John Paul II’s car. It was specially made for John Paul’s papal car in 1979, the day before a trip to Ireland. ‘Usually Roman acts reasonably sensibly. But the temptation to get hold of such an exclusive numberplate proved too much for him’, an anonymous source told the British Daily Mirror newspaper.
