Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s hunger strike will go on
until Vasily Aleksanyan’s transfer is confirmed.
Mikhail Khodorkovsky does not believe that the conditions he set are fulfilled and he intends to continue the hunger strike.
“Mikhail Khodorkovsky continues the hunger strike in the pre-trial detention centre in Chita. The situation is not resolved because the conditions which were originally set up by Khodorkovsky are still not met,” his lawyer Vadim Klyuvgant told Interfax-Siberia on Thursday.
The lawyer said that his client will stop the hunger strike only after confirmation that Yukos former vice president Vasily Aleksanyan is moved to a civil hospital.
Klyuvgant especially stressed that this confirmation should be reliable, so that Khodorkovsky may rely on it.
“Khodorkovsky knows the latest news about Aleksanyan. But since there is no reliable information that the doctors’ requirements are fulfilled and that Aleksanyan is transferred to a special hospital, Khodorkovsky does not find it possible to cease the hunger strike. If Aleksanyan is moved to a hospital then the issue of ending the hunger strike will be considered.”
Vadim Klyuvgant spoke also of his client’s health. “Khodorkovsky is working a lot; he is cheerful and says that he feels all right. Khodorkovsky asked everyone not to be anxious about him, he will withstand it and he asked to say hey to everyone,” said the lawyer.
