Back in business
Interfax puts Karimov (et al.) back in harness.
The Interfax news agency has learned, from reliable sources, where a number of investigators, formerly in charge of the cases against Khodorkovsky and Lebedev, or who led investigations into the murders of Anna Politkovskaya and Alexander Litvinenko, have now found employment.
They were not given permanent posts, as we know, by the Prosecutor General’s investigative committee but were transferred to the central personnel department. “Investigator Salavat Karimov, who led the team that built up the case against Khodorkovsky and Lebedev, has been appointed adviser to the Prosecutor General,” announced Interfax on Tuesday, citing one of its sources.
[…] “… these highly professional staff from the Prosecutor General’s office have achieved palpable success in their investigations of the most complex and widely discussed criminal cases,” the news agency’s contact declared: “now, without offering explanation, the investigative committee of the Prosecutor General’s office has failed to take them on.” And he commented: “Such a decision raises many questions, to put it mildly.”
